Do you remember your dreams? It’s said that, even if you don’t, we all dream. It’s one of the ways our minds sort through the days events, trying to make some sense of them. There are times they seem so real, we wake up wondering where we are and/or where we’ve been. Other times, they […]
the dark slithers, betraying the scarlet moon into the mellifluous hunger in each haze, a new mother of spring, the hills, the silence of untiring wanton blood broken between each finger and bone, nesting in the shadows in immense maddened breath across the perennial wound that dispels with the rain and alluvium struck with the […]
Marcus Shimbiro had a dream
When as an 8-year-old boy
he left his native Kenya
For the U.S.
He wanted to become a baseball player someday
He did excel at sports and particularly at baseball
In high school, he was hitting home runs
The same way he downed ice cream cones
with a vengeance
But then came that fateful day
He fell off his neighbour’s roof
While helping him paint it
And broke his arm and his leg
His arm and leg eventually healed of course
But he was not the same player ever again
He could no longer run
Or hit a home run.
Angry and bitter a few weeks before graduation
He borrowed a friend’s car and headed for Iowa
Why Iowa?
Because it was the home state of the Field of Dreams That famous 1989 sports fantasy movie with Kevin Costner and…
Tonight we are in for a treat. Tonight is the full “Pink Moon”, a supermoon, the first full moon of spring and the Paschal Full Moon! The Super Pink Moon is going to be the brightest and biggest supermoon of 2020, and it’s coming at a time when the world is in chaos. I hope […]
Well, bloggers/writers, this month’s WIP Writing Challenge prompt is kind of a no brainer! I wanted to stick true to the chaos in the world right now, because we’re all stuck fighting a global pandemic, so clearly our Work In Progress characters are being affected in one way or another. Not only that, but as much as we want to use reading and writing as an escape from our current circumstances, which vary depending on our physical location on this pained planet Earth, we also want to shout our opinions from the rooftops!
I don’t want to hear of sickness and dying from the virus, because it’s real, and it’s too sad, and it’s scary AF!! But, if we want to shout out our daily insanities during a time of isolation, then why can’t our characters too? At first, I was torn between the prompts, ‘temporary insanity’…
I suppose what counts as disturbing depends on the sort of person you are, so to me, with any amount of psychoanalytic assistance over the years, a dream about holding the Queen’s hand and saying a prayer for her has to be struggling to say something. The line – “keep all disturbing dreams away” – […]
You know that’s one way of showing love for your brothers and sisters. Tutorials have been popping up on Youtube lately on how to make fabric face masks and this is really very heartwarming. The pessimists in us will say that they’re only doing this to capitalize on a national emergency by selling masks and monetizing their videos, but I have to be honest with you, people wouldn’t go through the trouble of making these tutorials if they really didn’t have that spark of humanity in their hearts.
I watched two videos (and there are more videos out there I know), but the makers of these two videos did their research. They actually took the time to design filter pockets into their masks. That’s really awesome.
This lady says to use parchment paper.
I think this is fantastic for the people who can’t find n95 masks. There’s one thing that…
oh my love, i can see through it all. this is where we shall end up, after all that is sour, has come to an end. a sky oh so clear, with a wooden cottage, that oh my love, was our home.
oh do not fear, if the electricity to our house was cut, for oh my love, we can always instead, under a moon and talk about all things that oh are dear to us. about all things, that oh my love, we dream of.
oh my love, share the fears to you, that you chose to hide. let this land; away from all noise, feel the salt to your tears, as you try to hide them, while confessing all that you had to go through. oh my love, i promise you, no one else will ever, step over them again.
